Po 16 latach gry w ekstraklasie Andrzej Pluta ogłosił na konferencji prasowej we Włocławku, że kończy karierę koszykarską. Żegnamy dzisiaj wybitnego zawodnika!

Andrzej Pluta is 37 years old and was always known for his great shooting abilities. He ends his career being still a star and one of the most important players of Anwil Włocławek. Pluta averaged 17,5 points in the play-off quarterfinals against Trefl Sopot, which the Anwil team lost 1:3.

- I want to thank everyone, who I met during my whole basketball career. Special thanks to my family, my wife and kids, who believed in me to the very end and always supported me in my adventure - says Pluta.

- I have decided to end my career before the beginning of the last season. I simply felt that it is the right time for me. It is my final decision, I will not change it - explains Pluta. - I have spent many years in many Polish teams and in the Polish national team. I got eight medals, I have worked with terrific people and I am proud of myself.

The chairman of Anwil Włocławek, Zbigniew Polatowski proposed to Andrzej Pluta that he could be an assistant coach of the team or a youth team coach. - I am very happy with this proposition. I would like to coach the young players, because I have so much experience to share with them. Firstly I have to take a brake and think about it. Then I will announce my decision - says Pluta.

- Before the start of the next season we would like to organize a farewell game for Andrzej Pluta. We would like it to be an Anwil Włocławek - Asseco Prokom Gdynia game, because he was a champion in both these teams. His number - 10 - will also be restricted in our team - clarifies Polatowski.

Andrzej Pluta spent 16 seasons in Polish Basketball League in which he played in 591 games and shot 8525 points (average 14,4 points a game). In his whole Polish Basketball League career he shot 1158 three-pointers. He played in teams from Bytom, Ruda Śląska, Słupsk, Pruszków, Sopot, Zgorzelec and Włocławek. He played 97 games in the Polish national team, being a team member at Eurobasket 1997 and 2007. Pluta spent also one season in the French Pro A team - Chalons-en-Champagne. He is a 12 times All Star and six time three-point shot contest winner.
