Injury time

When you have a season that goes as long as our does, your almost guaranteed to deal with some injuries at some point and time.

Well, my time is now!!! When I got back from Christmas I felt refreshed and ready to go, but almost immediately I had problems. The 3rd practice back from Christmas I sprained my ankle pretty good, I worked with our trainer a lot and got it ready to play versus Turow. It was still not 100 % when I did it again this past week on Wednesday. This time it was pretty bad. I did not practice the rest of the week. Coach Urlep and I talked on Saturday, that I would not play very much to give me time to get healthy. I agreed with him that it was the best decision.

Being a basketball player though, you always want to play and play alot. It is hard to sit on the side and watch the game, when you feel like you can make a difference in the game. This is part of what makes playing team sports so great though. You need everyone on the team to play a role, whether that is playing 30 min, 10. min or only in practice. Everyone has to be working for the same things and this is when the team really comes together. This is what you saw Sunday against Polpak, there was no star of the game, but everyone did their little part and it was a good team win.

I have played and watched a lot of basketball in my life, I can only recall one other time where a team could not score for so long, as what happened to Polpak on Sunday. I think it was around 8 minutes into the game before they scored. Give them credit though they had a great comeback and almost stole that game from us.

I know most Polish fans along with everyone from Europe had to have noticed David Beckham's decision to leave Real Madrid and sign with an MLS team in the United States. Now, I will guarantee you that most people in the United States know Beckham, but probably not as a Soccer (yes, there is only one football and that is American football) Player! I am sure many people heads did a double take at ESPN's bottom line (a constantly running information of all the sports news) when they saw that Beckham had signed with the LA Galaxy for 250 Million Dollars. Most people had heard the rumors of Beckham openly discussing that he wanted to play in the US at some point and time in his career. I cannot blame him nor can I hate on him for going to LA. A beautiful city that seems to fit him perfectly.

For sure this will bring more people out to see Beckham play Soccer. The US fans will more than likely have no idea what is going on, but they get to see David Beckham. I know absolutely nothing about soccer, when my teammates, coaches, trainers discuss it I kindly just get out of the conversation. I do not even know if Beckham is a good player. I would think he was the Michael Jordan of Soccer by that contract though, I can think of a couple things I would do with that money. The only thing I know about him is that his wife is super HOT!!!! Will be interesting to see if other European Soccer stars will make the same move and if US soccer will grow.

Everyone have a good week and continue to enjoy the great weather. Hope to see you all on Sunday at Orbita against Slupsk.
